How to Schedule a Consultation
If a woman is interested in discussing whether UFE is a good option for her, we recommend that she schedule a consultation with one of our physicians. To schedule a consultation, please call (305) 598-1555. Our office is open from 8 AM until 5 PM, Monday thorough Friday.
Insurance
Insurance carriers always cover UFE for women with symptomatic fibroids. When you call, one of our staff will confirm that we participate with your health insurance company in providing care. In order to have the insurance company reimburse you for your consultation, some patients may need to have a referral from their primary care provider before the consultation. This is important to know before you come for your appointment, so please review your health plan prior to your visit. If your insurance carrier requires a referral, you will need to get a written confirmation from your health care provider to bring with you at the time of your consultation at The Vascular and Spine Institute. If you are not sure if you need a referral, call us and we can help.
What to Bring
When you come for you consultation the doctor will review your medical history. It is helpful to bring any reports that you might have to help the physician evaluate and counsel you. These might include:
Pelvic Ultrasound; reports of previous ultrasounds are usually sufficient, but it is always helpful to actually bring the images, if possible, for review by our physicians.
Pelvic MRI. If you have had an MRI of your pelvis in the last 6 months, bringing the pictures and a report of this examination would be very helpful. Pictures on a CD would be ideal.
Lab tests. If you have the reports of any recent lab tests, such as a blood count, these would be useful to bring as well. However there is no need to go to great lengths to get this data. If you are interested in the UFE, this information could be obtained later.
